CHARACTER NAME: Noiz
SERIES: Dramtical Murder
CANON POINT: End of true route/Ren's route.
AGE: 19
APPEARANCE: ah, yes. this asshole.
PREVIOUS GAME HISTORY: N/A
PERSONALITY: Upon first meeting, (as well as second, third, fourth, and beyond) the general reaction to Noiz is to lean back and wonder if this guy was raised in some kind of barn. Which unfortunately isn't far from the truth, given that he was raised in near total isolation which as left him emotionally distant and poorly socialized as a whole. He's unsociable, petulant, uncooperative, and can be aggressively difficult to get along with. His actions are largely self-serving, and he goes through his day to day assuming that every person he comes across is only looking out for themselves. He freely admits to this, because he doesn't view it as a bad thing. He doesn't reserve any judgement, in fact. Everyone looking out for themselves isn't good or bad, it's just how the world functions as far as Noiz can tell. This worldview causes Noiz to come off as very mechanical, almost artificial. He sees situations and people with such detachment and neutrality that he's always felt more machine than man, and to that end the life he has led thus far has been a largely digital one.
Above all else, it's Noiz's lack of empathy that defines him. It makes him difficult to understand and harder to get along with. It makes him appear rude, selfish, and hedonistic, all of which are true to an extent, but unlike other people who could also be defined in such words, Noiz is very innocent in his intolerability. He's a very unintentional sort of rude, with little if any malice behind it. He's not selfish because he feels he is more deserving of anything any more than the next guy; he's simply been taught through experience that the world is a zero sum game and the only way to gain is to make someone else lose.
Ultimately, everything about Noiz points back to one thing. Growing up in isolation, his inability to relate to those around him, every driving motivation and core desire-- All of it is the product of his complete insensitivity to pain. He has limited sensory feedback in his tongue and mouth, but beyond that the nerves throughout his body transmit little to no sensation at all. This is something he was born with, and because it's all he's ever known, from the start it set him apart from other people.
As a child, when he played he always played hard. He couldn't understand why being rough with other children wasn't well-received, because they felt discomfort that he was incapable of. Between that and emotionally absent, preoccupied parents who only ever gave Noiz the time of day when he was actively bleeding, it was not long before he started acting out just for the attention. This backfired. His affluent, upper-class parents couldn't have a son behaving as Noiz was, and so they shut him away. It was a prison of excess and luxury, with regular meals, a housekeeper, and a full kitchen and bathroom. Everything a kid could want, except company.
Growing up in this kind of stark silence both caused Noiz to become an intrinsically lonely person while at the same time robbed him of any and all skills he might have used to escape such a fate. Even having left his parents, he carries that prison with him, finding isolation wherever he goes. Part of him even believes he prefers it. Noiz as he is now knows only to seek pleasure, to stave off boredom and pass the time.
Noiz possesses a brilliant mind. He found his escape in the digital world early, and even in spite of spending all of his childhood years in isolation, once he left home he still managed to flourish. In his home canon, he runs a highly successful information trade, to the point where he never has to worry about money. He spends his days chasing after games that make him feel alive, struggling to become 'real' somehow while operating under the resignation that he will never be like other people. That his existence in of itself was a mistake, and he'll be of no consequence once he's gone.
So he might as damn well enjoy what he has the best he can while he has it.
That being said, smart as Noiz is capable of being, he has a profound lack of self-awareness, likely out of a complete lack of effort. He had a pet rabbit as a kid, probably his only company with a pulse growing up, his Allmate is rabbit-themed, and he disguised himself as a man wearing a giant rabbit head upon first meeting with Aoba, but he still needs it pointed out to him that he might just have a thing for rabbits. It's not even that he gets embarrassed or denies that kind of thing. It comes as a genuine surprise to him, and he shrugs it off without a word of denial, simply citing that he never thought about it. He can be a bit of a space case in that respect, in regards to both himself and the people around him.
When all is said and done, Noiz manages to remarkably resemble the average teenager. He plays a lot of video games and eats too much pizza. He breaks into peoples' houses and rearranges all their stuff without permission. He's rude and irreverent and spends way too much time thinking about dicks. Usually his, but not always. He pretends to be stronger and more aloof than he is, pushing people away when all he wants is someone to reach out to him. As different as Noiz is convinced his condition makes him, he's really not so different at all.
ABILITIES: Much as the journal name suggests, Noiz is something of a techie, which will work out swimmingly for him in a low-tech setting like this one. He is able to essentially take apart any sort of gadgetry and put it back together six different ways. Among other talents guaranteed to get him nowhere in Exit Void, he's a proficient hacker, good at fixing electronics, and top notch at video games/virtual reality battle games. As far as skills which may be of some small use to him yet, his primary occupation in canon was an information broker, he has total immunity to physical pain, and he's absolutely fearless in the sack.
POSSESSIONS: Besides his trashy punk goth kid clothes, Noiz comes with a wide assortment of body piercings, his Allmate robot companion in the form of two strings of connected cubes, a mini screwdriver, and a pocket full of condoms and single-serving flavored lube.
